FAQ
Can I park in front of the chateau?
Unfortunately, the parking spaces in front of the chateau are reserved for chateau employees with a valid permit. The nearest parking options close to the chateau are available at Velké náměstí or on Pilařova Street.
We recommend using the parking garage.
I want to explore all the routes in the chateau. What is the best combination?
Every half-hour, you can begin a guided tour of the Sala Terrena, which lasts 30 minutes and finishes on the hour. On the hour, the tour of the Representative Halls begins, which you can smoothly continue with. Afterward, you can relax in the Castle Café, and after a short break, proceed to a self-guided tour of our picture collection in the Castle Gallery.
Offer and timing of tours?
We offer tours of half an hour, one hour, or with no time limit. All information can be found in the visitor routes section. Tickets can be purchased in person at the chateau’s ticket office (payment by cash or card) or online.
When is the next tour?
The daily schedule of tours is available upon request at the chateau’s ticket office or can be viewed when purchasing an online ticket for the selected day.
Can I reserve tickets?
Unfortunately, we do not make ticket reservations for individual visitors – we recommend purchasing tickets online.
When is it possible to reserve tickets/tours?
We reserve tickets or tours for a minimum of 15 people. All necessary information and the reservation form can be found here.
Do you offer tours suitable for families with children?
At the moment, the chateau does not offer special tours specifically designed for families with children. However, we can recommend the guided tour of the Sala Terrena, which lasts approximately 30 minutes and may be particularly interesting for children due to the side grottoes (artificially created caves). We also suggest the climb to the Castle Tower (206 steps). Another option is the basic tour of the Representative Halls with a historical guide, which lasts 60 minutes—here, we advise parents with very young children to consider whether this tour is suitable for them.
New: Special Advent tours “From Advent to Epiphany,” where visitors literally walk through an Advent calendar featuring all the significant holidays. These tours are suitable for families with children as they have an educational focus. The duration is approximately 45 minutes. These tours are offered during Advent weekends.
Is there an entrance fee for the Chateau Garden, and what are its opening hours?
The Chateau Garden is accessible to visitors free of charge throughout the year. Visitors can find information about the current opening hours on the website or social media. Bicycles, scooters, and pets (including dogs) are NOT permitted in the garden.
Can I bring a dog or other pet into the chateau?
We are sorry, but your pets or other animals are not allowed inside the chateau or the Chateau Garden. This applies to all animals, including those in carriers or portable bags/backpacks.
Can I access the chateau in a wheelchair?
Unfortunately, the Archbishop’s Chateau is not fully accessible for wheelchair users. The tour of the Representative Halls begins on the first floor of the chateau, which is not accessible by wheelchair. However, wheelchair access is available to the Sala Terrena, which can be entered from the Chateau Garden. It is essential to inform the chateau ticket office in advance about this need, as access to the Sala Terrena from the garden is only available in such cases. The Chateau Garden offers barrier-free access from Na Kopečku Street.
I am a journalist. Am I entitled to free admission?
Reporters and journalists must always notify the chateau management in advance. Journalists without prior notification are not entitled to free admission to the chateau.
How do I get to the Flower Garden?
The Flower Garden is approximately a 15-minute walk from the chateau. Bronze tiles with arrows pointing towards the Flower Garden will guide you there. The first tile can be found on Pilařova Street, where you will pass by the churches of St. Maurice and St. John the Baptist. Continue through Milíč Square to the roundabout, and then proceed onto Gen. Svobody Street.
