For the Temple, Town and Country

The largest Art Museum exhibition of this year was inaugurated on June 13 and will run until September 29.

Bishop Karl von Lichtenstein-Castelcorno was the most significant bishop of the Olomouc diocese in the baroque era. He had recovered and uplifted the entrusted properties after the horrors of the Thirty Years’ War, had built splendid residences in Olomouc, Kroměříž, Vyškov, and in other towns. He had constituted an extraordinary collection of art and founded the episcopal library. The exhibitions of the Olomouc Museum of Art that are opening at the Archbishop’s Chateau in Kroměříž and in the Archdiocesan Museum in Olomouc will present the results of four years of intensive research, and along with two meticulously prepared books their ambition is to pay a tribute to this distinguished and notable man.
